St. Paisios of the Mount Athos recognized by the Patriarchate of Russia

Christ is risen! Truly He is risen!

After the canonization of Elder Paisios the Athonite by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, yesterday, the Holy Synod of the Russian Church decided to include him in their synaxarion as well.

The message from the Holy Synod of the Russian Patriarchate notes:
"With thanks to God, we received the notice of the glorification among the Saints of Paisios the Athonite. We have included the name of St. Paisios from Athos in the synaxarion of the Russian Orthodox Church, and planned to celebrate his memory June 29th / July 12th, as planned by the Orthodox Church of Constantinople."

Note that this occurs very commonly. For example, the Russian Patriarchate recently acknowledged Sts. Meletios the New, Nikephoros the Leper, and Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia.

Christ is risen from the dead, by dead, trampling down upon death, and to those in the tombs, He has granted life!
Truly the Lord is risen!
