The following are a few video clips from the Epitaphios Service (on 10/24/07) of St. Demetrios the Myrrh-streamer, from his church in Thessaloniki (one of the largest and most important pilgrimages in Greece). This is a service that resembles the Holy Friday evening service, while the hymns are mostly in praise of St. Demetrios, the great wonderworker and protector of the city of Thessaloniki. The relics of the Saint during the whole period before, during and after his feast are brought into the center of the church for veneration by the faithful. At the end of this service they are also processed around the church.
These clips were recorded from TV4e (http://www.tv4e.gr/), an excellent TV station that broadcasts many church services and religious programs from around northern Greece. Note: I'm unaware of any copyright problems with posting these, but if there is a problem I can easily remove them. May St. Demetrios intercede for us all and help us!
